In America, we have the expression, “crystal clear.” My wife, however, is not from around here:
THE WIFE: “Yes, I understand it now. It is glass clear.”

As a German with an American father I can see where she is coming from.
I stumbled today onto your blog and I’m having a blast reading it. I’m from Germany myself and we use glasklar for crystal clear, I remember making the same mistake.:-)
Oh nice! I love it when Germans clarify my wife’s Denglish for me. I know there’s always a direct-translation reason, but it’s so cool to actually hear it.
