Denglish 32: The Wife Resists Vegetarianism in Germany

When we were first getting to know each other, The Wife and I talked a lot about food and eating habits specific to Germany. Germany has over six million vegetarians, so I felt there was a decent chance she might be one of them. I was, apparently, quite mistaken.

ME: “Do you eat meat?”

THE WIFE: “I eat everything! Horses… Guinea pigs…”

  1. German dishes are normally heavy meals. But things have changed. To be vegetarian or vegan is the new trend. The first vegan grocery store opened this summer in Berlin called: Veganz.

  3. Haha. I am surprised to learn that there many vegetarians. A friend of mine who is stationed in Germany is vegetarian and finds is somewhat difficult to find things to eat in restaurants.
